Blue kitchens have been one of the biggest trends in interior design over the last few years and it doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon. Blue kitchen designs are not only stylish and timeless, but they can also be used to create a sophisticated look in both modern and traditional homes. From dark blue to light teal, anything goes with this colour trend!

Colour Psychology – calm and trustworthy

The colour blue is associated with calmness, peace and tranquillity, making it perfect for creating a relaxing environment in your home, so why not add this to your kitchen cabinets as well! Blue can also be used to create focal points within your room - adding contrast with other colours. For example, navy kitchens really stand out against a light wall such as white or another light colour.

What about two-tone?

If you are unsure about having such a strong colour across every unit in your kitchen, then choose to have just one or two cabinets in navy blue and the rest in a different colour. This duotone kitchen style will help to create a rich contrast between the surrounding cabinets whilst becoming the centrepiece of your new blue kitchen design. For example, having all of your cabinets in a lighter colour and your kitchen island in a shade of blue, will automatically draw your eyes, creating a striking accent! The use of multiple cabinet colours also makes it easier to accessorise the rest of your blue kitchen!

If you’re a big fan of the blue, why not go the extra step and incorporate a blue splashback into your kitchen design? This can be an easy and subtle way to continue the colour theme into other kitchen areas. We have a wide range of doors and many colours to choose from! If you can’t find the colour you like, we can offer a colour-match service on some of our door styles, meaning the options are endless!
